 A "must have" for ready mixed concrete producers and concrete contractors. Determining whether plastic shrinkage cracking will occur is not always easy. To predict when the potential for plastic shrinkage cracking exists, you need to know the evaporation rate of the concrete surface. ACI gives a chart for predicting when plastic shrinkage may occur based on the evaporation rate, but that requires you to be a master of chart reading. If you've ever referenced that chart you know that it can be quite a challenge to understand exactly how to use it.
This program will take away all of that challenge. All you need to do is
input the concrete temperature, the ambient air temperature, the wind speed,
and relative humidity -- the program does the rest! It outputs the
evaporation rate and lets you know whether or not you need to take
additional precautions to avoid plastic shrinkage cracking.
