This download a contains several papers, technical articles and two instructional videos on finishing, and curing, silica-fume concrete—an integral step in the producing crack free structures. Newly added to this download is a software program that uses ACI’s 305 evaporation tables to predict the potential for adverse conditions exist and advises when it is necessary to take additional precautions to avoid plastic shrinkage cracking.

Information in the articles include explanations of typical types of cracking that are found in all concrete and the factors that can increase the likelihood of cracking in high-performance concrete. The authors explain that most of cracking problems can be eliminated with “appropriate and timely” curing practices—they also recommend a holistic approach to crack prevention that addresses design, material, and construction practices.
